Akron Abrasion Tester is suitable for the test of products made by rubber, PU, EVA, etc. Such as: sole, tire, the caterpillar treads or tracks of a tank, etc.
The method is use specimen forming machine (Refer to our QC-601, QC-602),
to make a circular specimen at thickness 13mm, diameter 63mm, and
inner hole diameter 13mm. If such specimen cannot be made by mold, take a
strip shape specimen at length 220mm, width 12.7mm,
thickness 13mm, paste on a round shape rubber plate (outer
diameter 60.5mm, thickness 13mm, hardness Shore A 60° - 70°),
the connection part of this strip shape specimen should be cut into slanting
and opposite facing, make two ends match well after connected, and not loosing,
make the round shape specimen gripped on the specimen holder at 15°, apply
2pounds or 6pounds of load, and grinding with #40 grinding wheel, after
2000turns or 3000turns, calculate the quantity of abrasion.
Specimen should use “Specific gravity meter” to measure the specific
gravity before testing and after testing, and weight before abrasion and after
abrasion.
